Tonight, members of Banksville Independent Fire Department were recognized for their tremendous efforts and prehospital care, which ultimately led to the survival of a patient in our district who suffered from a cardiac arrest back in July.

On July 29th 2025, BIFD was dispatched for an Echo-level response — the highest priority in emergency medical dispatch — for a report of "CPR in progress."

Thanks to the guidance provided over the phone by our partners at @wuda_local60, a community member began CPR prior to our arrival. With the quick response of EMTs & Firefighters from Banksville FD , @armonkfiredept, @Westchester EMS and the @northcastlepolicedepartment , the patient not only survived but was able to return to the Banksville Fire Department tonight to meet the members who responded.

BIFD awarded one civilian award to Jason Tobon for starting lifesaving CPR prior to the arrival of first responders.
