| On Saturday, December 8th, 6 Banksville firefighters participated in the American Lung Assocation's Fight for Air Climb at Trump Parc in Stamford, CT. The event helps raise funds in the fight against lung diseases including cancer, emphysema and asthma. The Banksville Fire Department team raised over $1,000 thanks to generousity of family and friends, and in total, the event raised over $40,000.
The climb was originally scheduled for November 3rd, but was postponed due to local devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy. But after a month delay, about 200 participants climbed the 33 stories to top of Trump Parc. The Banksville Fire Department team competed in the firefighter division and made the climb wearing full firefighter protective gear weighing about 50 pounds!
Congratulations to Tom Costabile who finished 2nd in the 20 to 29 year old division, Josh Strauss who finished 3rd in that division, Walter Watson who was the 3rd overall fastest firefighter, and to everyone who participated and made the long climb to the top!
