Both these fires come less than a month after the tragic Christmas day fire that occurred in neighboring Stamford, CT and resulted in the deaths of 3 children and 2 adults.
Residents are reminded that ashes can remain hot long after the fire appears to be out. If you are cleaning your fireplace, even if it has been several days since you had the fire, a metal container with a lid should be used, and the container should be placed away from any structure or any dry leaves. |
